Monster in the Grass

This Great Black Wasp was in our potted plant on the front porch. He clung to the grass just staring at me...it's super creepy looking at these guys with a 200mm macro...yikes!!! Check out the 'teeth' on this guy!

While watering the lawn tonight I almost stepped on this guy. It was in the middle of the yard and at first I thought it might be dead. I soon realized it was just drinking. I quickly ran in the house and grabbed my camera and was able to fire off a couple of shots...this was the only one that sort of turned out.
